Brian and I finally watched Food, Inc. tonight (streamed it through Netflix). What an eye opening film. Since making an effort to eat more consciously has become a top priority for me, I feel like it's important to be educated about what I'm eating, where it's coming from, how it's produced, etc. And this film really lifts the veil of secrecy that surrounds so much of our food system.
I also think it really helps to watch this film with your spouse and, if they're old enough, with your kids. Brian is often quite, how shall we say....frugal, but I was so impressed by his almost unequivocal support of this new, more conscious way of eating for our family. He was as disturbed by the depiction of the industrialized food system as I was and I doubt he'll be counting pennies when he knows how important it is for us to make these choices. Thanks, Brian, for being my teammate and partner in this! We've already signed up for Trillium Haven Farm CSA and last month I purchased all of our meats at Heffron Farms Market. So it feels good to know that we're not just talking the talk...though it costs more up front to buy sustainable, organically grown foods, I know in my heart that it's cheaper for us, our kids and our planet in the long run. Check out the film and see if you don't agree.
So glad to see your blog back "on track"! Took me the better part of 30 min to catch up on all that you have posted recently. Will comment more often (when I think I have something noteworthy to say!).
