So by now, I'm sure all of you who are as big of a fan of Mad Men as I am have heard that we won't be seeing new episodes until 2012. Apparently, the creator, Matthew Weiner, has taken issue with a few things AMC/Lionsgate is asking to change about the show. Namely, AMC is looking to integrate product placement in the series, cut two minutes from the show to give more time for advertisements and eliminate/reduce two regular cast members to save money.
I can't imagine AMC takes a "loss" on Mad Men, so basically it sounds like it's coming down to greedy studio execs wanting to ratchet up the amount of money they're making on arguably the most lucrative show on cable television.
And who would suffer if the above criteria came to pass? The fans, surely.
So let your voice be heard - head over to the Save Mad Men from the Ad Men Facebook page and "Like" the page. Social media has an ever-increasing impact on decision makers in all fields, television being no exception.
Tell those bigwigs at AMC/Lionsgate that we don't want ANYONE messing with our show!
